Various programs that “guarantee” improved health, enhanced performance, unlimited energy, failproof financial security, and a host of other appealing things usually result in a charitable donation to an uncharitable person or entity. But when the kids in my church Youth Group inevitably ask questions about marriage, I feel pretty good about the “program” listed below:

Step 1: Focus on BEING the right person and trust that God, in His timing, will BRING the right person.

Step 2: When God brings that person who LOVES GOD and LOVES YOU, spend time together and ensure that there are no deep, dark secrets that could lead to storms of distrust in the future.

Step 3: Get married (ideally to your best friend) and throw a party, typically known as a “wedding.” Fill it with music and dancing and invite everyone to say, “Wow, look what God did!”

Well, Taylor and Katie Emmons did just that, and I couldn’t be more proud of them… and they even invited me to the party
