
Life circumstances have a way of shaping our current and future passions. And recently, my technological savvy using my work iPhone, which could accurately be described as “Boomer-like,” resulted in me inadvertently clicking on an obvious Phishing email. This resulted in a good teaching opportunity for my daughter, who found this simultaneously horrifying and hilarious, since Dad is supposed to be “smart.” Additionally, an ancient computer given to my daughter was found to have 2,743 viruses; this was discovered after it took 17 minutes for Microsoft Word to open prior to the Blue Screen of Death informing us of its irreparable status. These events, along with her desire to eventually have a computer of her own, have now inspired my daughter to save the world from Phishing, viruses, and hackers!
So she spent over an hour this morning creating numerous examples of Phishing schemes. Given that you can never be too careful in today’s crazy world, I figure I’d post some of them in my ongoing effort to help out my friends and colleagues. Because I wouldn’t want any of you to tarnish your scholastic reputation or start emotionally spiraling; I know firsthand the devastating embarrassment of being required to take a remediation course on Cybercrimes
