Fragile egos, broken spirit

He offered hope, they wouldn’t hear it

His hand outstretched, they closed their fists

And drenched his cheek with Judas kiss

Fragile egos, wounded pride

They starved him, left him ostracized

Perplexed, confused, and left alone

They gave him a prison instead of a home

Fragile egos, damaged goods

Disbelieved, misunderstood

A martyr for the altruistic

Exchanged for a tainted, flawed heuristic

Fragile egos, broken dreams

No one says what they really mean

Ignore him, infect him, bring him down

Keep building Babel, lest he steal the crown

Fragile egos, scared to death

Perceived his luster as a threat

Insecure shrapnel, debris of doubt

Pierced his heart…he’s bleeding out!

Fragile egos, open wounds

Resenting warnings of impending doom

Their soulless eyes watched as he bled

The Good Samaritan left for dead

Fragile egos finally crushed him!

It’s for the best, they never could trust him

But believe them, they’ll handle things in the right way

A festival in memoriam atop his grave
