Some recent footage of a McDonald’s CEO reluctantly nibbling on a burger has gone viral.  The guy appears to be on the verge of vomiting while “endorsing” his product, and his subsequent statements reeking of rationalization have done nothing to assuage the public criticism.  If I were Ronald McDonald, I’d be nervous about job security…this is a meme-worthy Clown Show conducive to many repeat performances!

And the picture here contains one of these Damage Control “statements.”  And for a fun little exercise, first try substituting other foods or beverages in place of “McDonald’s” in the attached statement and see how the narrative reads.  The Starter Pack could include donuts, soda, trans fats, and alcohol before progressing to Seed Oils, red meat, saturated fat, vegan meatballs, and anything else that results in full-blown wars on Social Media.  If you’re either inordinately triggered or laughing uproariously with any of these substitutions, then you’re getting the point!  Here’s your prize!

But then you could take the Logical Consistency Litmus Test to the next level and substitute “marijuana” or “methamphetamine” or “cocaine” in place of “McDonald’s.”  Some people seem to think adding “statins” or any prescription drugs to the illicit substance list would be appropriate (although “peptides” are always safe). The Gym Bros might enjoy swapping out “McDonald’s” for “Anavar” or “Tren” (cough, cough).  And maybe we even toss in Zyn and off-label Adderall just to see what happens!  This is so fun…my heart rate is already increasing!

Up to this point, this hasn’t probably been a very “challenging” exercise.  But for our final substitution, let’s entirely shift the conversation away from diet.  Instead, let’s shift to evaluating effects of various vices on your “job” and “marriage” and “spiritual life.”  And instead of McDonald’s, consider whether or not you “responsibly” engage in any of the following and have convinced yourself it can be “absolutely part of a healthy lifestyle:”

  • Greed
  • Idolatry
  • Profane speech
  • Infidelity
  • Dishonesty
  • Selfishness
  • Jealousy
  • Lustful thoughts
  • Anger
  • Slander
  • Impatience
  • Arrogance
  • Holding grudges
  • Gossip

And the list could probably be more extensive than even a McDonald’s menu.  But be careful to evaluate whether or not “just a little” Immunocompromised Integrity is actually resulting in a state of Spiritual Sepsis.
