Although the first day of Fall isn’t officially until September 22nd, for all intents and purposes we’ve already arrived…because PUMPKIN SPICE LATTES are back at Starbucks!
And many people wholeheartedly endorse the iconic beverage as their favorite seasonal sipping libation. But others, despite sharing this opinion, prefer to indulge privately, as if ashamed to admit their preference for pumpkin-y pleasures.
Maybe they feel the 50g of sugar and 390 calories are best kept secret from the metabolic Thought Police. Maybe they feel undue pressure to wear Ugg boots and start a new Snapchat streak every time they indulge. Or maybe they’re scared about “what others will think” about their financial responsibility every time they fork over 8 bucks for a Venti.
On a somewhat related note, September is also CHOLESTEROL EDUCATION MONTH, and some people wholeheartedly endorse “The Home Security System and the Lipid Neighborhood” as one of their favorite resources from which to sip-id when it comes to Lipids (that was a stretch). But many others, despite sharing this opinion, prefer to indulge privately, as if ashamed to admit their preference for the “Clarity and Hilarity” that the book brings to Cholesterol and Cardiovascular Health.
Maybe they feel ashamed to be associated with a guy who unapologetically tells Dad jokes and who doesn’t seem to care about what The Almighty Establishment thinks. Maybe they’re scared about “what others will think” if they admit enjoying a book written by an iconoclastic maverick who raps about Lipids at various conferences.
But regardless of if you’re ashamed to admit it, you can still enjoy “The Home Security System and the Lipid Neighborhood” for roughly the price of a Pumpkin Spice Latte this Cholesterol Education Month. And I bet you may even find it pretty delicious😊
