My daughter audibly gasped. Not even her swim goggles could hide the fact that her eyes had just widened in horror. This wasn’t a Code Brown or one of those annoying kids who smells bad and splashes everyone incessantly…no, it was far worse. Unexpectedly, the students were asked to swim all the way across the pool TO THE DEEP END.
She had avoided the Deep End her entire life, but the Swim Instructor reassured her that it would be ok. After all, the Instructor herself had been to the Deep End several thousand times and lived to tell the tale. But sensing my little girl’s trepidation, this Swim Instructor swam alongside her the entire time. My daughter not only survived, she SMILED as she navigated previously uncharted territory!
It’s one thing to merely offer advice to someone who has found themselves deluged by life’s storms and plunged into a Deep End of misery, anxiety, and despair. It’s quite another to accompany them as they navigate those treacherous waters. And when you have a friend alongside you, the Deep End doesn’t seem quite as scary anymore. And when your trust is in the One who can calm even the most tumultuous of tempests, you may even find yourself walking on the waves toward His outstretched hand of comfort😊
