We were down to our last ½ tub of Cottage Cheese, and given that it’s one of the three things I eat, my daughter and I were forced to make an emergency run to Fred Meyer.  And after we secured the curds, she asked if we could go look at the toys.  But as we strolled over towards the Kids’ Section, I heard a guy yelling.  And then when I turned, the guy was running our direction…and then I realized that he was YELLING AT ME.

My first thought was that maybe he was a Fred Meyer employee, and I’m sure there are a lot of Cottage Cheese thieves out there, but I knew I had paid.  No Deceitful Dairy for me, and I had the receipt to prove it!  But as he approached, I realized he was no grocery store worker; he must have a different agenda.  Not knowing what would happen next, I gripped my daughter’s hand tightly. And then he asked me this question:

“Bro, what do you do for your shoulder workouts?”

And I was surprised, flattered, and tempted to subtly flex all at the same time.  This guy was trying to bait me into a discussion about time under tension and the muscle fiber type distribution of the deltoids!  What a rascal!  But even though I’ve historically had these types of conversations in the gym holding dumbbells rather than in the grocery store holding my little girl’s hand, I maintained composure and saw RIGHT THROUGH IT.  So instead, I made a joke about the performance-enhancing anabolic effects of Cottage Cheese and gave him a quick, “Prioritize performance, try to stay athletic, and you’ll probably look the part!” before wishing him well.

After all, we needed to get to the toy aisle…I had promised!

And after this unexpected turn of events, I asked my daughter what she thought about it.

“I didn’t really get it, I don’t really care, and I wasn’t really paying attention. Hey, look at this cool Chelsea Doll Camper!”

Thanks, love…making sure you’re a Happy Camper keeps me grounded more than you know😊
