Social Media, Mainstream Media, Medical Headlines, and pretty much every public entity these days seems to have difficulty presenting data with objectivity, but hopefully my extensive academic training has assisted me in making fair and balanced assessments.

So here’s my attempt at helping people who are trying to make a wise decision on the hot-button topic of COTTAGE CHEESE or MAYONNAISE!  So I’m here to make a completely unbiased Pros and Cons list for anyone who still might be on the fence.  And ultimately, it doesn’t matter whether or not you agree with my personal preference…but this is objective and balanced anyway, so I don’t even need to bring that up!  Ok, here we go!

CategoryMayonnaiseCottage Cheese
ColorWhite, which potentially can stir up uncomfortable memories of pre-Civil Rights AmericaA creamy and velvety white
TasteTangy, but in a way that makes you wonder if it’s expiredA savory umami that drapes the tongue in subtle salty caresses
Nutritional ContentA soybean oil-infested fat bombHigh protein, low-carb
TextureSmooth, but that could be taken as the opposite of “hairy,” which could make you think of a hair in the mayo, which could be unsettlingThe term “cottage cheese-like texture” is generally regarded as unfavorable and even insulting, although it’s remarkable enough to have its own category
CostA few dollars, but probably your health and possibly your life5 or 6 bucks at Costco.  I can get some for you if you don’t have a membership.

So anyway, hopefully that’s helpful!  Like I said, I don’t care what you decide…I just want you to be equipped with the right information the next time you decide to not buy mayonnaise.  Knowledge is power!
